Second Wind Motor Cruising is an RYA recognised Motor Cruising School running RYA theory and practical motor cruising courses in Troon on the West Coast of Scotland.
Troon, being situated less than 5 miles from Glasgow Prestwick airport, is ideally suited to attract sailing and motor cruising students from both the UK and abroad.
Free airport transfers to Troon Yacht Haven for our guests ensures a stress free arrival. There are also excellent road and rail links into Troon.

Crystal Rapide in the Clyde
The school is owned and run by Steve Tyrer, who is a Yachtmaster Instructor in both Sail and Motor Cruising.
Second Wind Motor Cruising offers the full RYA practical motor cruising syllabus from Helmsman through to Yachtmaster prep and exam, as well as ICC and Cevni courses. We have also devised in house training courses to complement the RYA syllabus, and, together with own boat tuition and milebuilding weekends offer a comprehensive package of learning.
Training takes place with Steve on 'Crystal Rapide' a Birchwood TS37 which has twin Mercruiser 220hp diesel engines to give plenty of power. Alternatively personalised own boat training is available both throughout Scotland and abroad. Steve is also available for Sail or Motor Cruiser deliveries.
'Crystal Rapide' is MCA coded for 8 persons and 2 crew and as such makes her ideal for affordable family days out as well as corporate charter within the Clyde. With destinations such as Sanda, Campbeltown, and Tarbert, as well as Arran, Bute and Cumbrae, a special day can be arranged to suit all agendas.
For overnight charter Crystal Rapide can comfortably accomodate 4 persons in 2 cabins with extra occasional berths in the open plan saloon and dinette.
