STEVE TYRER

Principal Steve, is a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and Examiner in both sail and motor cruising and has been involved with boating since childhood.
In the eighties and early nineties he had a boat on the Leeds - Liverpool canal which quickly developed his love of close quarters boat handling. River cruising soon led to his determination to have a yacht and sail.  Dinghy sailing, and power boating with various youth groups taught wind awareness, and more boat handling skills, and eventually he entered a phase of retraining and gave up his 'day job' in engineering.
He has been sailing professionally for many years and has enabled people to gain boating qualifications throughout the UK.

He has also spent a season in the Mediterranean as skipper on high quality charter yachts under both sail and power, and completed a transatlantic crossing aboard a 64ft sailing yacht.

Steve has his own boats based in Troon Yacht Haven and is now teaching, and sharing his own love of cruising, both under sail and power, in the Clyde and off the West Coast of Scotland.
